Goan shrimp curry

This curry is mostly made in the south-west part of India in Goa. Local seasonings, seafood and rice are quite famous in this place. The combination of coconut milk and seafood is luscious, with a tangy twist to it.

Ingredients
500 grams shrimps
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp chilli powder
2 to 3 medium-sized onions
5 pieces/strips of chopped Ginger
1 ½ cup of coconut milk
½ cup tamarind water
2 tsp oil
2 tsp salt
To make the masala
1 tsp cumin powder
3 fresh green chillies
½ tsp chilli powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp pepper powder
4 garlic pods
1 cup scarped coconut
Method to make the masala
In a blending jar, add coriander powder, tumeric powder, chilli powder, garlic, green chillies, pepper powder, cumin seeds powder and coconut and blend it to paste consistency.
Method to make the curry
To a pan on the stove on medium flame, add oil, cumin seeds and then the chopped onions. Saute until onions become translucent.
Add chopped ginger, salt and the masala from the blending jar and mix it well. Cook it for 2 minutes.
Add shrimps/prawns to the pan and mix it well. Cook for another 10 to 12 minutes by closing a lid on medium flame.
Once the shrimps are cooked add coconut milk and tamarind water. Give it a good mix, cook for another 3 minutes. Enjoy the curry for rice, dosa/neer dosa.
